On Wyre Forest District Council we sit in a Joint Council Group as a Liberal and Independent Group with our 2 Independent colleagues who represent the Aggborough and Spennells Ward.
There are 4 Liberal Party Councillors on Wyre Forest District Council.
Offmore Comberton Ward is represented by 3 Liberal Councillors:
Cllr. Fran Oborski is Leader of the Joint Liberal and Independent Group. She was first elected
to the Council in 1973 and has served continuously ever since. During her time as a Councillor
Fran has Chaired many major Committees including: Finance, Environmental
Health, Housing and (her first love) Planning Policy. Currently she Chairs the Local
Development Framework Panel and is currently grappling with the issue of identifying sites
for the Gypsy,Traveller and Travelling Showmen Communities.
Fran taught for almost 30 years before becoming a Local Education Authority Adviser in Birmingham.
Fran is Vice Chair of Governors at Kidderminster's King Charles 1 School and at the newly merged Wyre Forest School, an all age generic Special School. She is also a Governor of Offmore and Comberton Primary Schools and an Advisory Board Member on Brookside Children's Centre.
A personal Trustee of the Kidderminster and District Youth Trust, Fran is also Chair of the Local Children and Young People's Partnership which is part of the Local Strategic Partnership. She is also an active member of the Kidderminster Husum Twinning Committee.
Fran was Mayor of Kidderminster in 1984 and passionately believes that Kidderminster should have its own Town Council. Fran Chairs The Liberal Party National Executive.
Away from politics Fran is a cat lover who enjoys Folk, Cajun and American West Coast music and foreign travel. She is Honorary Consul of the Polish Republic for the West Midlands.
Fran's late husband Mike was also a local County and District Councillor and Polish Honorary Consul. Fran visits Mike's Polish cousin and family in Warsaw every year; she is trying to learn Polish!
Cllr. Mike Price was elected to represent Offmore Comberton Ward when Fran's husband Mike
died in 2007 and was re-elected in 2011.
Mike Chairs the Constituency Liberal Party and is also Joint DEputy Group Leader. In the 1980's
he was a Stourport Town Councillor and is an extremely experienced School Governor who
recently stood down after several years as Vice Chair of Kidderminster's St. George's Primary
school. Currently Mike Chairs the Sites and Buildings Committee at Comberton Primary School.
Mike is Vice Chair of OCAG, the Offmore Comberton Action Group.
Born and brought up in Worcestershire, Mike has had wide experience in the carpet trade and in hotel and retail management, he is now a self-employed "courier". A lifelong Manchester United fan, Mike is sometimes seen on the terraces at Aggborough supporting Kidderminster Harriers.
Offmore Comberton's third Liberal Councillor is Rose Bishop. A real "local" Rose was educated at the former
Sladen Secondary School. Rose was elected in 2010 when longstanding local Councillor Siri
Hayward stood down on her retirement from the NHS.
Rose is a founder member and Chair of OCAG (Offmore Comberton Action Group) which was
set up in 2005 by WEst Mercia Police and local Councillors to tackle ASB issues on the
Comberton estate where she is a long term resident and community activist. Thanks to the
energy Rose has put into this role over £250,000 of investment has transformed the old
Borrington Road Playing Fields into what is now "Borrington Park". Working with King
School "eco" group, Rose has led tree planting and other conservation projects.
Rose has been a Governor of King Charles 1 School but will step down when the school becomes an Academy on April 1, 2012. However she will keep her links with the eco group. Rose has recently joined the Governing Body of Offmore Primary School.
Having retired from her previous employments Rose is an active member of Victim Support and reprersents that group on Disability Action Wyre Forest.
She is the key organiser of the Borrington Bash, Offmore Comberton's Annual Community Carnival.
Liberal Councillor for Kidderminster's Greenhill Ward is Tim Ingham. Tim's late mother
Bronwen was a lifelong Liberal, a former Mayor of Kidderminster, she had represented
Greenhill on Wyre Forest for many years and had also been County Councillor for the area
An experienced, former Chair of School Governors, Tim has recently joined Offmore
Primary School Governors. A successful Company Director, Tim is Vice Chair of Scrutiny on
Wyre Forest and Chair of the influential Budget Scrutiny Panel.
Away from the Council, Tim is actively involved in Youth Work in the area.
Liberal Candidate for Greenhill in 2012 is popular former Greenhill Liberal Councillor Rachel Lewis. Rachel, and husband, Mike Akathiotis live in Wribbenhall.
Worcestershire County Council
Fran represents the St. Chads Division on Worcestershire County Council. As the ONLY Liberal County Council she sits in association with the Liberal Democrat Group.
Fran is Joint Opposition Lead for both Children's Services (where she leads on Education) and Health including the new Local Government responsibility for Public Health.
Fran serves on the Joint County/District Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee where she represents Wyre Forest.
As part of the Localism Agenda, Fran serves on the County Councillor Members Advisory Group. She is one of the Group Members Pilotting, with her Offmore Comberton colleagues the "Action Learning Set" which is studying new ways of helping communities to help themselves.
